Budget Savvy Tip: Multiple Uses for Wedding Flowers
Being a DIY bride, groom, or merrier is the best way to keep a lean wedding budget. It requires being a go-getting, creative, and crafty person who recognizes the benefits of taking on your own wedding flowers and decorations. Throughout my years as a professional florist, both in and out of the flower shop, there has been one universal piece of advice I’ve given to those couples who are looking for an extra method to stretch their money and flowers. In this blog, I am going to teach you how to give multiple uses to your wedding flowers.
Aisle to Reception
Who doesn’t love a well-decorated wedding aisle? I know I do. This crafty bride placed mason jars of flowers down the entire length of her aisle leading to the arch where she was married. The jars contained a few stems of all the flowers in her wedding; daisies, stock, snapdragons, and roses. Then, once the ceremony was over, the bride’s team moved those vases to the reception space. In the pictures shared, you can see the placement of flowers near the Guest List sign which enhanced the space. This kind of decorating gives the entire day a cohesive and immersive appearance.

Bridal Bouquet as Decor
One of the most common repurposed pieces used from ceremony to reception is the bridal party bouquets and the arch piece. The picture used in this section is a special wedding near and dear to my heart. This was our in-house designer Emily’s wedding, and I was lucky enough to be the florist and a bridesmaid. Check out the stunning arch piece, her bouquet, and our bridesmaid’s bouquets. Then, see how we used them as the decor at her head table? Throughout the night, her guests were able to get a closer look at each piece which made them feel special. The joy was spread from both locations as most people do not get the opportunity to be around the art pieces and finished products that are wedding bouquets.
Garlands
Garlands are an extremely popular piece of wedding decor these days. FiftyFlowers has a variety of premade options. They come in a variety of lengths which makes them an easy and painless way to design your wedding inexpensively. This couple used the premade Ruscus, Plumosa, and Sprengeri fern garland and then accented it with stems of pink garden roses and purple mums. At their reception, they decorated the large wooden swing with their ceremony garland as a fun spot for their guests to take pictures and share in the flowery bliss.
Over the years, I’ve learned these tips and tricks as couples look for loopholes to stay within their budget. Re-using your wedding flowers from ceremony to reception will save you the time it would take to make a piece for your ceremony and reception. That means you’re making fewer centerpieces, food table decor, and most importantly, arch and head table decor. DIY’ing your wedding is an incredible way to be present in your own wedding beyond getting married and is a great way to bond with your wedding team. But I also know how tedious it can be to create an entire wedding with flowers, so if I can help you have fun but stay present with the other various parts of your wedding week, it’s a win!
